Abzug and Kozin provide a comprehensive review of brachial plexus birth palsies. Despite being well recognized, brachial plexus birth palsies continue to be relatively common, potentially resulting in permanent deficits in upper extremity function. The authors review the mechanism of injury, risk factors, anatomy, diagnosis, classification, and both surgical and nonsurgical treatment options.
Frank and colleagues present a detailed review of acromioplasty and discuss its role in the management of rotator cuff injuries. As the indication for performing an acromioplasty during rotator cuff surgery has recently been brought into question, the authors present the best recent evidence related to its utilization.
