Introduction to Tui na techniques

CHAPTER 2 Introduction to Tui na techniques

This section of the book will help you to learn the Tui na techniques that are most commonly applied in the treatment of adults. There are four categories of techniques:

For each technique, I describe how to practice and apply it, where on the body it can be applied, its therapeutic actions and clinical applications. To help the learning process, you will find a tips for practice box for each technique to remind you of the key points and common pitfalls. Please note that from now on, the English translation for each technique will be given in italic directly after the pin yin name, e.g. Gun fa rolling.

As with any practical subject, it is difficult to learn Tui na from a book. To make things as clear as possible, in addition to the accompanying photographs, each technique is also demonstrated on the DVD that accompanies this book.

What you will need for practice

Fortunately, very little equipment is needed in the practice of Tui na.
