Eye Foreign Body Description In sports and recreational activity, a foreign body may enter and stay in the eye. This can result in an abrasion (scratch) of the eye, vision loss, eye pain, a sensation of an object in the eye, and watering of the eye. Eye protection significantly decreases the chance of a foreign object entering the eye, but its use is often neglected by athletes.
