13 Duration of and Intervals between Treatments We should leave ourselves sufficient time for the first assessment, above all as beginners, because new experiences require calm and practice. When I first began in private practice, I often gave my new patients appointments at the end of the day or doubled the treatment time. At the beginning each patient should be allotted a full hour; this also provides the opportunity to become better acquainted with each other. Having gained more experience, approximately 45 minutes will be sufficient. The follow-up treatments are much shorter, approximately 20 to 30 minutes. In the follow-up treatments, however, a different choice of zones for treatment is almost always made as a result of the reactions which have taken place.
