45 Describing fractures
A fracture is defined as a soft tissue injury with a disruption in the continuity of a bone. The soft tissue injury is just as important as the break in the bone. The common fractures of various areas of the body are shown in Fig. 3.45.1. These are covered in more detail in later chapters:
