Clavicular Osteolysis (Weight Lifter’s Shoulder)
Common signs and symptoms
• Diffuse discomfort or ache, tenderness, and swelling at the end of the collarbone or the acromioclavicular (AC) joint, at the top of the shoulder, are common.
• Symptoms usually start slowly and insidiously following a workout and progress to affect the whole workout, occasionally causing constant pain. Symptoms are usually first noted during bench press activities.
Preventive measures
• Maintain appropriate conditioning, including shoulder strength, endurance, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness.
