Pediatrics

Shital N. Parikh, MD, FACS, Editor
For a long time, Orthopedic Clinics of North America has provided timely and focused clinical review articles. The new format would continue the tradition of such articles with each volume containing topics that represent multiple orthopedic specialties. I am proud and excited to be a part of this change and to be part of such a distinguished editorial board. As the section editor for pediatric orthopedics, my goal is to provide the readers with up-to-date and comprehensive review articles related to the clinical practice of orthopedics in children and adolescents.

Pediatric orthopedics has evolved to include various subspecialties like pediatric trauma, pediatric spine, pediatric hand, pediatric sports, neuromuscular disorders, pediatric hip, tumors, and feet. Future articles in Orthopedic Clinics of North America would represent all such subspecialties, the topics determined based on emerging knowledge, perceived need, and the scope of clinical practice.

I believe that the analyses and knowledge of complications related to any given topic is the only way to anticipate and avoid them in future. As the number of scoliosis and kyphosis-corrective surgery continues to increase in the United States and around the world, the topic of Complications of Surgical Treatment of Pediatric Spinal Deformities is both important and timely. I hope this article and similar clinical review articles in the future will help readers in their daily practice.
