As section editor for Musculoskeletal Oncology, my goal is to share writing that is accurate, interesting, and timely and that appeals to nononcologic orthopedists. In this first volume, we present part I of an article by Dr Mihir Thacker on benign pediatric soft tissue masses that an orthopedic surgeon may be asked to evaluate. Dr Thacker completed fellowship training in both pediatrics and oncology and is on staff at the well-known Nemours/Alfred I. DuPont Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware, giving him a unique vantage to diagnose and treat children with benign and malignant soft tissue masses. In future volumes, we will address management of metastatic lesions, bone lesions that can safely be observed, vascular malformations commonly encountered in orthopedics, as well as many other topics. I hope you enjoy these articles and very much encourage you to share your ideas and feedback in the comments.
